Our neighbors to the north, ONN, released the results of its 2024 State of the Sector Survey today. Over 1,000 nonprofit organizations in Ontario participated in the study. The ONN results sounded familiarly discouraging:
- Four-in-10 nonprofit organizations responding to the survey said the organization was at significant risk for not existing in the next three years.
- Eight-in-10 of the nonprofits experienced an increase in demand for their programs and services, a 7% increase over 2023.
- Half of the nonprofits reported stagnant and declining revenue while eight-in-10 reported increases in their expenses.
- One-third of nonprofits reported using their reserve funds, similar to pandemic-era levels.
So, the need for nonprofit services in Ontario keeps increasing, while revenue declines and expenses increase.
It’s tough out there folks.
